Senior Finance Officer

We are looking for a part-time Senior Finance Officer to join our Finance team. You will be responsible for the effective and efficient operation of the payroll function, whilst assisting the team with accounts payable and finance-related information.

Our preference is for a permanent, part time employee three days a week. There is flexibility regarding the working arrangements. The role is subject to a six-month probation.

Salary: Level 4 under the SCHADS Award with an hourly rate of $42.60 to $44.68 (depending on experience) plus super. Option to salary package up to $15,990 reducing taxable income.

Responsibilities include:

    • Processing fortnightly payroll with accuracy, efficiency and meticulous attention to detail.
    • Interpret awards and ensure compliance with legislation.
    • First point of contact for employees and managers for pay and leave queries.
    • Maintaining payroll systems (currently use MYOB AccountRight and MYOB Payroll Advance).
    • End of month payroll processing.
    • End of year processes.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:


    1. Qualification in finance, accounting or business or equivalent experience in accounting and finance.
    2. Minimum three years’ payroll and accounts payable experience
    3. Proficiency in business accounting and payroll packages
    4. Intermediate Excel skills
    5. Time management and organisational skills
    6. Demonstrated interpersonal skills.
    7. Teamwork skills
    8. High level of written and verbal communication skills
    9. Preparedness to work in accordance with Umbrella’s mission and values
    10. Demonstrated ethical standards and values.


    1. Knowledge of diversity, access and equity issues for CaLD and LGBTIQ+ seniors
    2. Current driver’s licence.
