Henrietta (Henny) has over 12 years of experience in the community sector. She has built a reputation for working cooperatively with local communities and encouraging transparency and engagement.

She is skilled at delivering successful projects for culturally and linguistically diverse clients and serves on a number of national and state advisory groups.

She is also a volunteer Board member of Multilingual Australia and promotes multilingualism as a valuable asset and an essential ingredient of cultural identity.

Henny has a Bachelor of Social Services from Charles Sturt University and an Advanced Diploma in Community Sector Management.

She was honoured to have won Employee of the Year WA in the 2021 ACSA Aged Care Awards.

Robert is one of our longest-serving staff members, having been with Umbrella since we were based in humble premises in Bayswater.

He manages our social support team and all of our social support programs and excursions. He is also responsible for managing our fleet of vehicles used for client transportation to and from their homes to our social support centre every weekday, as well as our extensive program of client excursions.

Theresa manages Umbrella’s business, information technology and finance portfolios. This includes administering grants, overseeing project funding and expenditure and managing the Australian Government funding for our home support services.

Her responsibilities include financial reporting to funding organisations and government departments, audits and ensuring our compliance with the Aged Care Act and all governance legislation.

Carol was appointed HR Manager in July 2023 after being promoted from her previous role as HR Coordinator.

She is responsible for all HR-related matters including recruitment, performance management, dispute resolution and employee wellbeing for the organisation, which currently has over 160 staff members in two separate locations (Ascot and Belmont) and close to 100 volunteers.

Fiorda is responsible for managing the care finder program for Umbrella in the north and south Perth metro areas.

She is a dedicated professional, driven by a passion for making a positive impact and studied tourism and economics in her home country of Italy. She also has a Diploma in Community Services.

Fiorda is a founder of The Morley Momentum, a community group formed to promote a safe and vibrant hub for all who visit Morley through artistic, cultural and environmental initiatives.

With a relentless dedication to delivering exceptional results, Fiorda is committed to creating meaningful change and uplifting communities.

Donna is an experienced stakeholder engagement and media relations specialist who has worked internationally for BHP, for regional government in South Africa and as a journalist and newspaper editor. She met and photographed Nelson Mandela in 1990.

She has managed stakeholder and community engagement for major infrastructure projects in Victoria, Queensland and Western Australia. Prior to joining Umbrella Inc, she worked for the Department of Premier and Cabinet based at Parliament House in Perth.

Donna has a Bachelor of Arts in English and Political Science and a Master’s in Philosophy (Intercultural Communication) with distinction.

Michele is a humanistic leader and community development practitioner with over 25 years’ experience in aged care, disability and homelessness in local government and the not-for-profit sector.

In collaboration with key managers, Michele works to ensure that Umbrella strives to meet the requirements of the Aged Care Act and relevant legislation.

She ensures that our workforce is equipped with the knowledge and skills required to meet client needs through the implementation of policy and procedures and the delivery of a quality training and development program.

Michele also manages our Quality Care Advisory Committee and Consumer Advisory Committee to support continuous improvement across the organisation.

After qualifying as a geographer in Macedonia, Marika studied English in Australia followed by interpreting qualifications in Serbian and Polish.

Marika has worked in the multicultural community sector in a variety of roles, including family violence support and on programs helping new migrants settle in Australia.

She also works as an interpreter for Macedonian, Serbian and Polish residents. In addition to her paid work, Marika has been involved in in committees and as a volunteer language teacher for many years.

Marika speaks Polish, Greek, Macedonian, Serbian and English.

Vice-President

Anna’s remarkable leadership and commitment to the rights of older Australians from multicultural and LQBTIQ+ communities have resulted in Umbrella today supporting almost 1,000 clients from 70 countries.

In 2023, Anna was cited as a Member of the Order of Australia in the King’s Birthday Honours List, one of four women across Australia honoured for their contributions to the aged care sector.

Anna is also one of two Western Australian representatives on the National Council of Elders, the peak consumer advisory body to the Australian Government on all matters relating to seniors, based in Canberra.

Following a Masters Degree in Library and Information Science and Records Management, Dorota worked as an academic and librarian in both Poland and Australia.

After completing a further qualification in International Trade, Dorota established her own wine export business, eventually leaving the world of academia to focus on this.

Dorota has been involved with Umbrella at a Board level for 23 years and has taken on a number of executive positions during this time. She speaks English, Polish, French and Russian.

Krzysztof completed a Master of Engineering in Poland and continued his studies with a Graduate Diploma in Computing from Curtin University after migrating.

Krzysztof spent time in France and Germany, where his passions for adventure and multiculturalism began, before emigrating to Australia.

Now retired, the once Polish Astronomical Olympiad winner spent a lot of his spare time being active in the amateur astronomy scene in WA.

Krzysztof speaks Polish, English, Russian, German, limited French and basic Hindi.

With a background in policy and research, Rita has worked for the Office of Multicultural Interests (OMI) since 2011 and is currently a Senior Strategy, Planning and Research Officer.

She has expertise in policy and action research in the areas of ageing, migration, gender, social development, poverty, inequality and multiculturalism.

Since 2011 she has led OMI’s work on ageing in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse communities in Western Australia and has produced several reports identifying issues impacting on CALD seniors.

Ann has worked in management roles at both Sir Charles Gairdner and Fremantle Hospitals and previously managed three different aged care facilities.

Ann is a third generation Australian, born and raised in country NSW. She came to WA in 1985 to further her studies in nursing and later studied gerontology at Curtin university.

Ann has worked in management roles at Sir Charles Gairdner and Fremantle Hospitals and previously managed three different aged care facilities.

After working 44 years full-time in public teaching hospitals and private sector aged care facilities, Ann is now a retired registered nurse.

She has also completed the Company Directors’ Course and served on the Board of Police and Nurses Credit for 23 years, as well as done many years of voluntary work with St Vinnies, the AIDS Council and Riding for the Disabled.

In her spare time, she enjoys pottery, croquet and water aerobics.

Belinda is Corporate Counsel at Laing O’Rourke with the sole conduct for all legal issues on the MetCONNX Armadale to Byford Rail Project.

She holds a Law/Commerce degree from the University of Western Australia and has worked in the construction and major projects sector for the past 16 years.

Belinda is President of the WA branch of the Asian Australian Lawyers Association and is on the WA Committee of the Lighthouse Club, an international charity for construction professionals to assist those in need.

She was awarded WA’s 2023 Woman Lawyer of the Year. and was also a finalist in the 2023 WA Volunteering for Multicultural Communities Award.

Dr Krystyna Haq

Krystyna retired from the academic sector in 2021 after 17 years as a Graduate Education Officer at the University of Western Australia, working with PhD students and their supervisors.

Since then, she has become a tireless volunteer for various environmental causes, as well as for Umbrella’s Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme. In 2022, she volunteered as a tutor and mentor as part of Mercy Connect, working with children from asylum seeker and refugee backgrounds.

Her varied career has given her a strong understanding of a range of disciplines and the importance of rigorous data collection and management.
