Being part of Umbrella means to belong to a fun and caring multicultural family.
Umbrella Inc. delivers innovative and culturally appropriate aged care services to over 700 seniors from 58 different countries. We are funded by the government to deliver quality home care services to seniors in the community. Our Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) and Home Care Package (HCP) program are designed to assist older people to remain living independently in their homes giving them flexibility and choice in how their care and support is provided. We recognise each client’s specific needs and acknowledge gender, age, religion, cultural interests and background. Umbrella’s leading innovations in the delivery of high quality and responsive services to seniors from culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) and sexuality and gender diverse (LGBTI+) backgrounds have resulted in our organisation receiving Awards in the Small Provider Category at the 2016 ACSWA Excellence in Care Award and the Excellence in Service Delivery Award at the Cultural Diversity in Ageing Excellence Awards 2018.
It started only with a small request, but Motobility - Formerly Bluesky Healthcare went above and beyond to support one of our clients. We can't thank them enough for their generosity. 🙏❤️Umbrella Community Care and Motobility are working together 🤝 to help out people in need of mobility aid within our community. ❤️ Milos lives in North Perth and thanks to the mobility scooter which was donated to him, he will now be able to regain his independence and travel to his local Coles for his weekly shopping. Umbrella couldn’t have picked a more deserving and grateful recipient for this donation. Enjoy your new sense of freedom Milos! 🤗 ... See MoreSee Less
This pandemic was difficult for our Umbrella family for many reasons, one of them being the reduced face-to-face interaction with our clients. However, at Umbrella we love to think outside box. So today, one of our most popular social groups, the Internet Cafe has met online for the first time!
And it was a huge success. In the weeks leading up to the event, Umbrella support workers have been working hard to teach our seniors about the use of Zoom and how to use its different functions. So the day finally came when 14 of our clients met online with our staff, management and even our CEO, Anna Harrison joined in!
The virtual event's aim was to provide the opportunity to learn new skills, see each other again and learn something new about the aged care system. The session started with the Acknowledgment of the Country, followed by CEO’s welcome speech and then Basia Kozok with Robert Wilhelm sang a Russian song. Magda Wojcik and Fiorda Kule, the organisers of this event prepared a quiz for the attendees with some tricky and fun questions about Umbrella’s history and the aged care system. The quiz was running both in English and the clients chosen languages. Three lucky clients won the hampers with multicultural sweets and of course toilet paper and sanitizers were included!
After the very positive feedback received from all attendees, all clients wanted a repeat next week!
My Mum was so overjoyed and very impressed with the special outing from Seniors Club Cracovia. She hasn’t stopped telling me stories about all the wonderful activities she was able to experience at Elizabeth Quays opening night. On that day, Perth came to life for my Mum. She will never forget this experience. Thank you for caring for my Mum and all the seniors.
