What is the BRIDGE Project?

A new initiative delivered by Umbrella Multicultural Community Care Services in partnership with Curtin University, to amplify diverse community voices and build inclusive leadership in WA.

We’re transforming how community services deliver truly culturally responsive care, with practical, evidence-based strategies.

This initiative is funded by the Office of Multicultural Interests.

Revolutionising cultural responsiveness in WA’s community services

Creating stronger, more culturally responsive services by connecting people, practice, and purpose.

Whether you’re on the frontline or in leadership, BRIDGE offers the knowledge, strategies, and support to transform how we engage—ensuring everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.

Key features of the project

  • The Multicultural Readiness Instrument (MRI): Developed by Curtin University, this validated tool helps organisations accurately measure and strengthen their ability to engage with CaLD communities.

  • National Best Practice: The program aligns with the FECCA Cultural Competency Framework while remaining tailored to WA’s unique community landscape.

  • Practical, Tailored Support: Participants receive customised reporting, diagnostic assessments, and tools to embed inclusion into recruitment, strategic planning, and language access policies.

Is your organisation truly culturally responsive?

The BRIDGE program offers a bold new framework to embed cultural responsiveness at every level of your service delivery.

BRIDGE empowers organisations to:

  • Understand and reflect the diversity of our communities
  • Build inclusive, culturally safe environments
  • Strengthen trust with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CaLD) clients
  • Embed long-term, systemic change — not just one-off training
